Cycles and Sprouts is a community-based agriculture and bicycle repair program in Holden Heights that seeks to improve overall community health and wellness and create on-ramps to economic opportunity.
Cycles and Sprouts is a community-based agriculture and bicycle repair program based in Holden Heights and funded by the AETNA Foundation. The goals of this program are to improve health and wellness outcomes, create on-ramps to economic opportunity and improve community safety for residents of Holden Heights and surrounding communities. This is achieved through urban agriculture and bike repair training with emphasis on job skills and entrepreneurship development. Through urban gardening efforts, there is an increase in fresh fruits and vegetables available to the Holden Heights community and other partner organizations. Cycles and Sprouts is a collaborative effort comprised of the following organizations: Kaley Square, East Central Florida Regional Planning Council, Fleet Farming, Playground City, Good Food Central Florida, and the Holden Heights Community Development Corporation.
